General Description: The heartwood is a rich dark brown to a purplish-black with a distinct grey sapwood. The grain can be straight but will often have a wavy or curly grain and a rather coarse texture. The sapwood is not classified as defect but as a feature of American Black Walnut.

Average Light Reflectance Value (LRV): Crown Cut 14.72.
Please note that for FD30 and FD60 doorsets the timber density must have a minimum density of 510kg/m3. It should be noted that some timbers such as Ash and Beech have high densities but are NOT suitable for an FD60 application. Get in touch further advice or samples. However, glazing beads should be manufactured from timbers that have a minimum density of 640kg/m3.
